Beaver Creek Business Park History: The Beaver Creek Business Park, featuring over 600 acres of land, is situated on both sides of Leslie Street north of Highway 7 up to Sixteenth Avenue and east to Highway 404.

In the latter half of the 1800's, a number of small lots were severed from the Abraham Vanhorne property at the intersection of the present Highway 7 and Leslie Street to become part of the Hamlet of Dollar, which was, eventually, incorporated into the business park.

The west side of Leslie Street, also, saw part of the properties of David Leek, William Cook and Berczy settlers Melchior Quantz and the Phillips family become part of this new industrial park.

At one time a cluster of small lots were created at the southwest corner of 16th Avenue and Leslie Street where Peter Philips set up a blacksmith shop in 1851. Beaver Creek Business Park on the east side of Leslie Street included part of the Hamlet of Dollar, the 200 acres of Berczy settler John Langhorst, Berczy settler John Ulson and his family, Laurent Quetton St. George, William Sanderson, Robert Baldwin a member of the Toronto elite and David Leek and his family.

Eventually, remnants of the Hamlet of Dollar were demolished for the widening of Highway 7, but, interestingly, the Quantz home still stands on the Bayview Avenue site of the future Tao Condominiums in the Doncrest neighbourhood.

Today, historical street names of Richmond Hill include West and East Wilmot Streets named after Jason Wilmott, and Leek Crescent named after the Leeks who settled on the 2nd and 3rd concessions of then, Markham, north of Highway 7. The First Methodist church at Headford was known as Leek's Chapel. Reid Street named after Dr. Asa Reid, one of Richmond Hill's first doctors, and Sims Crescent named after John Sims a blacksmith in the village from about 1870 to 1905, are other examples of historical street names in Beaver Creek Business Park.
