Central Newmarket History:Early settlers to Newmarket are still remembered by streets bearing their names.
Timothy Rogers came with Quaker families from Vermont and New York. His family took Lot 95, King Township, which today is the southwest corner of Yonge Street and Davis Drive.

Joseph Hill, who was probably the town's first citizen, dammed the Holland River and built the first grist mill in 1801.
In 1814 William Roe established a fur trading post in Beman's Corners, Newmarket's name at the time. There were, then, several log buildings and two frame houses, one of which was owned by Peter Robinson and the Bemans. It is thought that Timothy Millard, after whom Timothy Street is named, was Robinson's miller at the time.
So, Central Newmarket has Rogers Road, William Roe Boulevard, Robinson Drive, Timothy Street and Millard Avenue. Hill Street is in Bristol-London and Beman Drive is in Huron Heights, both of which are near the Main Street in the centre of town.

This neighbourhood has almost every type of real estate. There are highrise condos on Davis Drive and William Roe Boulevard, and a newer lowrise condominium building on Timothy Street.
There are condo and freehold townhomes and semi-detached homes, most of which are in the Yonge Street and Mulock Drive area.
